American Forces Targeted a 'Big Complex' in Venezuela, President Trump Claimed Without Providing Details.

Former President Trump has stated that American forces targeted a "significant installation" in Venezuela recently. But, the former president withheld information about the precise nature or location of the strike, and officials have issued no additional comment from his administration.

Unspecific Comments Offered During a Talk Show

"US forces just eliminated – I don't know if you read – they have a large facility, where the vessels originate. The other night, we knocked that out. So we struck them decisively," Trump allegedly told Republican donor and supermarket owner John Catsimatidis on Friday.

Potential Significance of a Verified Attack

If a US strike is confirmed, it would mark the first land strike since the US Department of Defense began a buildup of US military presence in the region to disrupt drug traffickers that the Trump administration claims operate under the orders of Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro.

The original purpose of the force deployment has evolved into a blockade aimed at stopping the country's oil exports.

Social Media Footage and Official Statements

Trump has for some time stated that US forces are poised to escalate the military campaign by hitting objectives within Venezuela, a strategy that would in theory require congressional approval.

Online video shared online on 24 December appeared to show an explosion said to be from an industrial zone in a Venezuelan state. However, the video or the site in question has not been confirmed by third parties.

An source reportedly informed a news network that the president was referring to a drug facility in his remarks.

Reaction and Current Military Situation

The Caracas administration has not commented on the alleged strike the former president described. Furthermore, there have been no corroborating news from Venezuela about it.

The deployment of US military in the area – a stance some have termed a naval quarantine – constitutes the most expansive maritime enforcement action of his time in office.

Officials have refrained from calling the operation as a blockade, but have confirmed that around 15,000 troops are deployed across the Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico, including a carrier strike group, F-35 aircraft, and law enforcement vessels to implement current sanctions.
